Well the year is just flying by already. How did I get so behind so quickly? New Year's Eve was great, but I paid for it dearly on New Year's Day. The inaugural 5K seemed like a good idea when I signed up in mid-December. Not such a good idea at 8 am on Thursday when the mere thought of jumping out of bed, let alone jumping up and down, seemed like utter madness. I suffered through every painful step, complaining the entire way to my poor, defenseless (or maybe he's deaf!) running partner, and then congratulated myself with lots of sweet temptations at the finish line!
Since then I ran 21.75 miles on Saturday morning - ok, so I know that's very precise, but every little bit counts. And maybe "ran" is a tad strong. Perhaps "jogged" or "shuffled" would be more accurate. But I covered the distance so that's what counts.
Sunday was a nice bike ride with friends. The wind showed up to help on the way out, and to make us work on the way back.
So all that sounds like I'm fit and healthy and all is good with my little world. Except - I've got a spare tire around my middle that just won't budge. In fact, in the past month, I've gained 5 lbs. Now I know it was Christmas, but still - I work out a lot. Then my "friend" reminded me that I also drink a lot. And so it's clear. I must work out more. Oh, and I guess I should try to drink less. So that's my resolution for this year. Yep, the same as last year. When is groundhog's day??
